I can understand Mike's hesitation on this. Combat is probably my favorite things in RPGs and I would be hesitant to give up control of my character during a fight. In fact, in one of my first sessions I had to go do something quickly, only to come back and fight the party fighting with the goblins we had previously been working with. While I was gone they had controlled my character and had him join the fight. I helped finish the fight and only then learned that we were in the wrong with the goblins, and I don't think my character actually would have joined the fighting.

Any times where someone else has controlled your character, whether for good or bad?

I look forward to seeing how the greatest super weapon in the universe works in game.

Me too :D
In all seriousness, I've come up with a mechanic that I like and I think it works well with how Voltron is described, but it kinda does make me wonder how you would make anything a challenge for Voltron.

Granted, I kinda think that about the show. It's the greatest superweapon known to man/alien, yet it regularly struggles against giant monsters or even regular spaceships.

Voltron’s key weakness is the same as every other weapon. The skill and mentality of the people wielding it. After all just cause they have the most powerful weapon doesn’t mean they can’t be outmaneuvered by a more tactical enemy or taken by surprise. After all in many of the monsters cases from what I recall, they have some hidden trick or move they don’t bring out til half-way into the fight to put them back on the defense.
